Winchester, VA asked in Estate Planning for Pennsylvania

Q: What can I do with an attorney who won’t pay what is owed so that we can close my dad’s estate?

My dad was an attorney in PA and passed away in 2012. His law practice was still open when he got sick and he passed his open estates on to another attorney. They had a signed contract with a breakdown of how much was coming in from each estate & what percentage each of them would receive. It has been 7 years and we have had trouble receiving pay out from this attorney on any of the estates. More than $15,000 is still owed to the estate & he refuses to communicate with us. We have an attorney who has tried to contact him as well, but nothing is getting done. It seems like no attorney wants to deal with this because it involves another attorney. Meanwhile we are having to pay to file a tax return each year. We just want my dad’s estate closed! We are at our wits end!
