A: Your charges could be up to a 1st degree which means easily 20 years in jail. Generally they are not so he/she is looking at probably around 5 to10 years with a second degree charge and with a good lawyer generally less. When you have a Heroin distribution case which this sounds like in a school zone the default setting is jail, the question is just how much and that depends on how good of a lawyer you have. But like anything else in life you generally get the quality you pay for so if you think a few years in jail is worth maybe 50 to 100K a good lawyer could be a good buy. It all starts with setting up one of the free in office consultations that most of us criminal lawyers offer.
