Philadelphia, PA asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Louisiana

Q: Can my kids father gain joint custody of our kids ?

Back when my kids was 2 now 7 I file for a motion of sole custody from my kids father. And it was granted for 4 years. Our past history he shoot my mom house while I was pregnant and after having the kids he pulled out a gun on me which made me put a restraining order on him to keep him away from me and my kids. Also granted. He was granted supervised visitation that he never not once attended. He also on child support where he owes $27,000 of unpaid support. Now he’s threatening to take me to court to get custody of my babies. Is that even possible do to our past history? He before being placed on block list he has asked me several times to sign over his rights and he don’t want to have nothing to do with the twins. He indicated that he don’t want me to bother him about the kids again. Then out of the blue he start contacting me to see the babies and I placed him on block. What should I do ?

A: Print any texts or emails. Get copies of all police reports and convictions. Get spreadsheet from Support Enforcement showing how much child support he owes, then hire a custody lawyer if you get served.
