New York, NY asked in Family Law, Real Estate Law, Civil Rights and Landlord - Tenant for New York

Q: What should I do of my neighbor is harassing me because of my autistic child playing in my appartment?

Good evening,

I live on a 2nd floor apartment with my mother and my 4 year old son who is autistic. My son is in school from 8am-4pm we get home around 5pm. He will play sporadically between 6-8 he is in bed by 9. I leave my appartment as of 8am the latest until after noon on Saturday and Sunday to avoid bothering my neighbor and still as soon as he heres my son stepping he is destroying his ceiling hitting up or banging on the heater-boiler. He harasses me everytime he sees me. Im I supposed to have my son strapped down the few hours he is at home just because hes bothered by his stepping?

A: This isn't a family law question, its more in the way of a landlord issue. Discuss this with the landlord or make a police complaint. Beyond that, the only other thing you can do is put a thick carpet or some other cushioning material on the floor.
