Q: how do I remove someone from my apartment that does not legally live with me

I have a lease for my apartment I’m the only person on my lease I had my now ex boyfriend staying with me for a couple weeks and he is now refusing to leave claiming he lives there how do I have him removed?

A: Talk to the landlord and talk to the police. If they won't help, then you would have to file an eviction. Use the Find a Lawyer tab to retain a local real estate attorney to assist you so you do it properly. If you just have the locks changed, and move his stuff out, he could sue you to collect the cost of any property he loses and the cost to move, but that won't get him back in the apartment. So he could sue you, but maybe it is worth it to get him out. If he makes any threats of harm, file a police report and then file to get a restraining order, which would order him to stay out.
