Atlanta, GA asked in Divorce for Georgia

Q: Can I do the paperwork for my divorce in Tennessee while living in Georgia without having to go there ?

My husband and I got married while we were living in Gallatin, Tennessee in 2014. We have been separated since 2017. We have a son together but he doesn't even try to reach us. I need a divorce cheap because I'm disabled. Please give advice on fastest way to have this done.

A: If your son lives with you in Georgia, you have to file for divorce in Georgia. You can go to the Family Law information center in Fulton County to get advice on a divorce without attorney help. https://www.fultoncourt.org/family/family-flic.php

A: I agree with my colleague, it sounds as though you will need to file in Georgia. If you need legal assistance you can contact Legal Aide or contact the state bar and ask if there are any pro bono attorneys in your area. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558 HomerJordan.com
