Chalmette, LA asked in Traffic Tickets for Louisiana

Q: For a traffic ticket court appearance, is a decision made at that time? Can I contest? I didn't know about "discovery."

I can't find on any Louisiana website how traffic court proceedings go. What it entails, if the officer will be present, whether I have an opportunity to speak.

I've tried to find the public record, but was consistently passed like a buck with each call I made - local directed to me state, who sent me back to local, e.g. Is a final decision made at my appearance?

I didn't know about a "discovery period," which I would have exhausted because the officer involved was verbally aggressive and intimidating. He told me to "shut up" - while I was answering his questions. I think if the citizen/civilian behaved like that, he or she would receive more than a mere traffic citation.

Can I bring that up, if I am given the opportunity to speak?

I don't have confidence in the veracity of whatever notes were submitted about the incident.

A: Of course you didn't know about Discovery because you didn't go to law school. That's why you should hire a traffic court lawyer.
