Hollywood, FL asked in Bankruptcy for Florida

Q: HI, I've reached my credit limit with all credit cards and a unsecured bank loan. I cannot afford bankruptcy.

All payments will be due within the next 2 weeks. Can I write them all letters explaining the cash advances and electronics were sold to build up more cash to repair my 60 year old single wide trailer and my 18 year old car? My debt is approx 17,000.00. This work was/is being repaired by individuals who do not take credit cards. I am 75 years old, on Medicare, Medicaid, just qualified for food assistance through Humana's network.

I have no assets or monies anywhere. I'm also under the care of a Physiatrist for Bi Polar, the stress of this situation has made it worse. I can attach a copy of doctor's letter if advised to do so. I also had to use my cards for food as I have no money after paying the card minimums and my lot rent which just substantially raised. I thought I could keep up the payments but I was wrong. My credit is " good" at present. I don't know if the following information is useful, I have gone bankrupt 3 times in my life, divorce, business failure and medical ( cancer )

A: You are a contemporary of mine and I can certainly empathize with your situation, and it is not going to heal any wounds for me to tell you that you did just about everything the wrong way.

You need to visit with a bankruptcy lawyer. Most do now require a fee for the initial consultation, but your situation is too involved to treat it adequately here in this context.

Best of Luck

A: I misspoke in my earlier answer: Most lawyers do NOT require a fee for the initial consultation
