Q: Can I sue a DJ for using my first name as his song title?

I was 17 years old at the time this happened. I kind of forgot about it, but my husband and I were talking tonight and it came up. Basically, I was 17, I was foolishly speaking to a DJ in the UK he was like 25 at the time) and he said I was his "muse" for the song, and that he would name the song after me as proof. I was 17 though, so technically I could not consent. I didnt know anything about anything at the time.. My parents sure did not consent when I told them about it, but they didnt know what to do about it at the time either.. they thought the entire situation was just weird and creepy. I was and am in canada. He said he was in UK. (We met online and only ever video called and talked online) The song says published in Netherlands. There have been remixes made off of it (which I imagine would have had to been paid for due to copyright laws...) also, the DJ is obviously making money off the song seeing as it is published on many site, and YouTube must be paying the DJ from Ads?

A: Your question remains open for five weeks, and at this point, you might ask an intellectual property attorney for their opinion of your situation. However, it could be worth keeping in mind that many songs out there are named after people, and there could be millions of people who share the same name with those used in any given song title. You could see what an IP attorney says about your situation. Good luck
