Atlanta, GA asked in Criminal Law and Federal Crimes for Georgia

Q: Can my hit and run charges be dropped?

I was in a motorcycle accident and my breaks went out at the time of the collision. The road i was turning on was a hill, so i was rolling down the hill all while panicking trying to stop my dodge durango. I finally put the emergency breaks on. I was .05 miles from the scene. I could see the police and the fire trucks at the top of the hill. So i waited for them to come and down to where i was. I still had my seat belt on and my car was still in drive, also i couldn't get out of the driver side door due to the damage. My neck, head and knee were hurt. About 10 mins later the police came and arrested me for a HIT AND RUN! Is there a possible way these charges can be dropped and what do i need to do. Because i didn't leave the scene...
