Q: My dad is 78 years old and lives with my step mom who 13years younger than him

he is in bad health and constantly falls and isn't being fed on time. my step mom is addicted to pain meds and as soon as he gets his she takes hers and his. He is constantly out of money but she will not let us see the bank statements, we just found out this week that he sleeps on a urine and feces infested bed but she would never let me and my sisters know this, what can we do to get power of attorney for him? he has lost so much weight and when you walk in the house it smells so bad. most of time she leaves him in the living room alone and stays in her room. he will sit in his urine when he doesn't make it to the restroom it is a terrible situation

A: If you believe he is in an unsafe and/or abusive situation you should report it immediately to Adult Protective Services with the State of Texas. They will send out invesitgators.
