Jonesboro, GA asked in Child Custody and Family Law for Georgia

Q: Does my ex have any chances of getting sole custody?

My ex feels like I trapped him in to being a father. He feels trapped because he asked if I was on birth control and i was but we should have used back up protection. We debated abortion and eventually he told me that he would not be involved. It was after that statement, I decided to pursue having my child understanding that he would not be there. He decided to send me me very nasty messages and wants to make me regret having a child with him. He wants to fight for sole custody and says he will stop at nothing and use everything to against me to get it.

A: How the child arrived is irrelevant. Custody is decided on the best interest of the child. If you have a sage place to live and raise the child, and can support him or or, it is highly unlikely for a father to get custody of an infant.

A: I agree with my colleague, unless you were proven unfit to care for the child it’s highly unlikely he would get sole custody. Plus, if you were not married to him then he won’t even have any legal rights to the child at all unless he takes measures to legitimize. If he does that, you should consult with an attorney regarding your options. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558
