Miami, FL asked in Civil Rights for Florida

Q: If police are looking for a suspect, and they do not see him enter your home, are they allowed to enter my home?

At 3:30 in the morning, outside security cameras caught a drunken man running from police. The man hid or got away from the police undetected. They started checking the residences. Its caught on camera that once, they open my front door while I'm asleep and flash their lights inside my place, waking my boyfriend. Then 15 minutes later the cameras catch them throwing my front door open and they were aiming their flashlights, guns, and tasers at my naked sleeping body. Startling me out of my sleep. They never entered my home, but they lied and said my door was left open, gave me no information about the potentially dangerous man outside of my home, and I was not allowed to move my hands to grab a blanket and cover my naked body. Then they proceeded to ask me to come outside and talk to them, to which I replied "No I'm naked". And they scolded me telling me to lock my door at night and then left. I feel incredibly violated and unprotected by my local law enforcement.

A: I gather your door was not locked. That was not wise.
