Yucca Valley, CA asked in Personal Injury for California

Q: Can a defendant claim harassment as a defense with no evidence to back it up to avoid taking responsibility?

I filed for lost wages in sm claims court against the person responsible for an injury causing lost wages. The person is claiming harassment as a defense. I can show that this person is the one who initiates contact & willingly participated in a relationship. Yes I was angry & upset after being hospitalized but this is not a legal defense to an assault is it? Clearly it's just an attempt to avoid responsibility for actions causing my injury. Will a judge see thru this and rule out that defense? I believe I have a strong case w/ evidence to support my claim. Just wondering how this could play out in court.
