Richmond Hill, GA asked in Divorce for Georgia

Q: I have some questions about what I would consider malpractice of my previous divorce lawyer.

I’m out of state and I left my divorce in the hands of my lawyer, who I now know did NOTHING to help me. In fact he did nothing but give me poor advice and withhold information from me. I started doing some research and turns out, I could have contested my divorce, I was supposed to be given vital information such as my husbands salary And 401k information, and that Massachusetts is a no fault state in which I should have had access to half of our everything, none of which happened. So now I’m just hoping to speak with someone who may be able to explain what happened to me and maybe help me to understand how I got screwed and if there is anything I can do about it now. I understand ignorance to the law is not an excuse, but I truly feel like no one even cared enough to explain the basics of what divorce law was and now I’m at a loss. Thank you so much in advance for any help.
