Columbus, GA asked in Family Law and Civil Litigation for Georgia

Q: Can my father's girlfriend, sue me for her paying for things in their relationship?

My mentally ill father has been with his current girlfriend for several years, and she has been harassing me about the money in my Dad's account. She charges my Dad for everything including his co-pays for doctor visits. And she is only doing that because of money that she thinks my dad may have in his account. Is she able to charge my Dad for things while they are in a committed relationship, living together?

A: I’m not sure we understand all that is going on. It sounds as though their finances are kept separate. If he doesn’t pay for his doctor co-pays, then who would? Her? If she is charging just for his expenses, I’m not sure I understand the problem. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558
