Shelbyville, TN asked in Domestic Violence for Tennessee

Q: My boyfriend was just recently charged with domestic violence because a so-called witness said they seen him punch me

In my face which was not true at all ! & I had stated right then to the police that he didn't do that & they wouldnt listen to me & still said they were giving him domestic violence we already have court in 2 months , & I don't want to press any charges against him at this point will he be able to go ahead & be released from jail after serving his 12 hrs for the domestic violence until we go to court in September ? & when he was getting arrested he was on probation for failure to show to court for driving on suspended license because he had no way of getting to court at that time in one of the counties he had time served for one of the counties for the suspended license & the other county he had gotten a 3 yr probation at the same time for Another issue since this is his 1st time violating both probations for him getting in trouble for the domestic ?he hasn't been charged with it yet & I wasn't pressing charges will he have any jail time or will he be able to be bonded out?

A: I'm unsure whether he will be able to bond out but you can call the jail and see if there is a bond. Keep in mind that if he is bonded out he will likely have bond conditions that forbid him from having contact with you (the victim). He will need to hire an attorney to gather all the information and talk to the DA as well as work on his probation violations . Meanwhile, you can call the DA office and talk to the victim witness coordinator or the DA and explain what happened. You will be the main witness in the domestic assault charge therefore, a lot of what happens in his case depends on your testimony.
