Q: Could my student visa to Germany be denied because of being an asylum seeker in the US?

Hi, I am from Iraq and I live in the US. I came here student visa to do my undergrad in biology in 2013. In 2016 I applied for asylum here in the US. Process still pending since then. I am residing legally as an asylum seeker (have not been granted asylum yet). I applied for a Gottingen University in Germany a few months ago to do my masters in cardiovascular science and I got admitted for this fall. I am in the process of obtaining an appointment to get a student visa at the German consulate in Chicago in order to be able to enter Germany. All my family members reside in Europe permanently (they fled from Iraq to Europe around the same time I traveled to the US). If and when I leave the US at anytime I do not have a re entry permit to come back to the US so my asylum application will be deemed invalid if I exit the country. Given the circumstances do you think my visa could be rejected because of the uncertainties about my next destination after my master's?

A: That is something you will need to discuss with the German authorities.
