Birmingham, AL asked in Child Support for Alabama

Q: My friend has 2 kids from his previous marriage. They are grown. Child support!

My friend has 2 kids from his previous marriage. They are currently 18 and 20. He divorced the mom when the youngest was about 3. In the divorce decree he was granted joint custody and actively help raise his kids over the years.. At one point he even had full physical custody of his son. About 3 to 5 years ago the ex and he had a disagreement and she went to dhr to put him on child support. Not only did they grant her child support, but they went back to the birth of his kids. Now he has been paying back time child support on grown kids and will be paying for yearssss to come. What are his options for getting that order modified and the cost associated with?

A: None. If child support was ordered and he didn’t pay it, he owes it to her. There is nothing he can do.
