Clarksville, TN asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: Errors on police report

Long story short, I received a citation for "Following too Closely", 9-419. Car in front of me rearended the car in front of them, causing me to have to swerve. My mirror tapped their tail light, damaging my mirror cover and leaving only a small scuff on their tail light. I was initially planning to fight this with Dashcam evidence in court, however upon reviewing the MVA done by the officer, I noticed that the officer put my VIN number in for another vehicle and still correctly labelled mine. Would it be out of place for me to motion for dismissal based on that? Otherwise I will continue preparing my case as I was.

A: In TN the accident report is inadmissible evidence by Statute. So the LEO testifies to what he finds when he goes to the accident scene, and tells what available (in Court) declarants told him there.
