Asked in Family Law for Louisiana

Q: im trying to find out if I am required to go to a court date or if i can get it dismissed?

short version I live in Louisiana my divorce was done here. I have a ongoing trial for custody in Louisiana. My ex left the state of Louisiana, around august 2020, with the kids and moved to Georgia without notifying myself or filling with the judge. She then filed a ex parte in Georgia immediately after moving there. Im wondering if she is allowed to file in Georgia even though she was not allowed to leave the state of Louisiana and we still have a ongoing case in Louisiana for the same custody issues? on top of that I have filed over 20 violations of a court order for not allowing visitation in the last year.

A: You have a very good argument for having her filing dismissed in GA, but you need to hire an attorney in that jurisdiction to file pleadings to have them dismissed. This needs to be done before the court date.

A: Hire a custody lawyer to file ex parte here in Louisiana and for a civil warrant.
