Q: What's the best way to file for tax return to get the best outcome for petitioning permanent residence for my husband?

Hi, I'm a US citizen with foreign husband and dependents in abroad. We're planning to petition for my husband's green card after the public charge policy overturns next year, and combining our current income, we'd just meet the financial requirements. And we also have a joint US sponsor.

Will my husband's income from selling art (in cash) be proven by filing as married jointly and help in the process as it would indicate that he also has some source of income? Or if the joint sponsor is sufficient, to just file separately to save extra taxes on his income, which can be omitted from reporting as a nonresident alien?

Also I just got my youngest child's SSN due to the delay in mail. Though I have paid the tax owned for 2019, I haven't filed it just yet. Can I file as the head of household in 2019 and married jointly or separately in 2020?
