Arlington, TX asked in Criminal Law for Texas

Q: If my husband and I were robbed and assaulted then got police assistance . only for the police to arrest my husband

It was for a possession charge and new mexico has restriction in place for quarantine on people from out of state. Why would he go to jail for a charge that is nonviolent if there are restrictions? How can I get him out?

A: Today is Christmas so judicial options may be limited. Hopefully, he won't have to wait in jail until next Monday, December 28. If your husband is in jail in Arlington, Texas then your best bet is to call a local bail bonding company that is actually based in Arlington or Ft. Worth (Tarrant County.) I'm guessing you are probably more likely to reach a bondsman than an attorney on Christmas day.

On the other hand, if your husband is in jail in New Mexico then you should re-post your question with the location field set to the appropriate city in New Mexico instead of Arlington, Texas.

A: I assume the criminal charges are filed in New Mexico; contact an attorney in the county where the case is pending, If your husband is in custody, at this point it doesn't matter why they arrested him. The question is what does it take to get him released. Good luck
