Atlanta, GA asked in Personal Injury for Georgia

Q: Am I within my rights to change lawyers after much dissatisfaction?

I retained a law firm almost a year ago to handle my auto accident case (not my fault). Sustained injuries that required hospitalization for three days, but still have residual effects. My attorney got a partial settlement of a small sum and I have not had much communication since. A couple of calls have been made without response. I feel that I am due a better settlement and should be given more attention to the case. It will soon be a year, and I am not sure if there is a statute of limitation associated. Am I within my rights to get another lawyer? Thank you very much for your response.

A: A Georgia attorney could advise best, but your post remains open for three weeks. Whether you have rights to pursue further damages could depend on the terms of any release(s) you signed. You could reach out to Georgia attorneys to review the release, statute of limitations, and other issues to help you identify your options here. Good luck
