Q: I have temporarily guardianship of a teenager we aren't related its more like a poa her mom and dad have no rights to

The woman that had full custody killed her self Kirsten the teenagers aunt went to court and got custody she didn't want her anymore so now I have her how would I go about getting permanent custody?

A: Your location says Louisiana so I am not sure if the case is in Texas or Louisiana.

But, you will need to file for custody in the state and county that has jurisdiction over the child. More information is needed to determine the jurisdiction.

I suggest that you set up a consultation with an attorney in the state and county that the last court order is from. If the child has lived outside of the jurisdiction where the last court order is from for more than 6 months it is likely that that court no longer has jurisdiction and the case will need to be transferred to the jurisdiction that the child has lived in for the last 6 months.
