Lynwood, CA asked in Car Accidents for California

Q: My car insurance Freeway insurance canceled my policy after a collision and refusing to cover it. can this be done?

I received a call after the collision saying that they possibly might cancel my insurance and few day later received a check for month I paid for which would make my policy cover me for the month the collision happened and backed dated my end date to before the collision and now are saying that I was not covered.

A: MORE INFO NEEDED.

THEY CAN CANCEL YOU AFTER AN ACCIDENT, BUT CAN NOT DENY YOU THE COVERAGE YOU PAID/CONTRACTED FOR.

A: Cancellation works going forward. To remove coverage in the past, they would need to rescind the policy. Whether or not that is permissible depends on why they did it and how. You need a consultation with a knowledgeable insurance attorney. Be prepared to provide all of the documents to/from Freeway, which includes emails, letters, proof of payment, etc.

A: Sounds like an Insurance scam. RUN to your nearest PI attorney. Get coverage elsewhere so you are not naked.
