A: Without seeing the purchase agreement it is hard to say. When was there supposed to be occupancy? At closing? Within c days of closing? Etc.

Also ‘over occupancy’ is not a term used in Michigan law. What do you mean? You’re ‘holding over’ on a previous lease? Oat one month rent and you’re holding over and have converted it to a month to month tenancy — but to be ‘polite’ you should inform the landlord what’s up so they can plan to re-rent.

Bottom line: take the closing paperwork to a local licensed attorney to review and see what is the next step. It may take some time so seek that local opinion ASAP to get things started!
