Portland, OR asked in Landlord - Tenant for Oregon

Q: Can the owner of my rental give my contact info to the potential buyer to arrange an inspection w/o notifying mgmt comp?

I live in Beaverton, Or. I have lived in this specific rental for 10 years. Always paid rent on time, never had complaints, keep my home in perfect condition. A few months ago I put in a reasonable accommodation to have the owner paint the upstairs due to ghosting from the vents- I have a neurological condition that’s aggravated by dust/dirt/smells/etc. The owner denied the request & said I could paint it. A couple of weeks after my RA request I got a call from the mgmt company that the owner wanted to do a walk through because they planned on selling the home. Then a few weeks ago the owner msgd to arrange an inspection. I asked he give my # to the inspector so I could arrange a day/time since I work from home. He continued to msg me & asked if I’d move out in June instead of end of lease, 10/31. Then last night the potential buyer msgd me without my permission, & kept pressing about an inspection & said he’d be who I msg now. This feels like harassment & I don’t know who this guy is.

A: The current owner or property manager are the only ones that can legally direct you where to submit future communications. It sounds as if you have a fixed term lease that expires in the end of October. If so, the landlord cannot require you to vacate sooner. IF they want you to, and you are willing, at a minimum they should pay you to break the lease.
