Plainfield, NJ asked in Landlord - Tenant for New Jersey

Q: What can I do if the owner of the property towes my vehicle?

I live at the apartment complex and my vehicle was towed. I normally park in the garage that I pay an extra $100 To park in. I had it parked in the garage for a few days and took it out to run some errands. Today I come outside to Move it and to my surprise, it’s gone. It’s funny that I emailed the landlord and told him my wife and I we’re leaving on the 1st and the very next morning my vehicle is towed. Mind you, I’ve left it back overnight before with no issues and would park it back in the garage the next day. Is there anything at all that can be done legally?

A: File a pro se (representing yourself) action in Small Claims Court naming the Landlord and Towing company as co-defendants. If you go to NJCourts. gov on the web, you find find the necessary information to proceed. This way, a judge will decide which party is in the right.
