Baton Rouge, LA asked in Criminal Law for Louisiana

Q: Convicted felon got arrested for gun found under the seat of drivers vehicle. What can felon do?

Driver not a felon.

Pulled over for drugs but none found

So police searched vehicle, found drivers gun hidden under seat.

Felon did not know.

Driver not felon. His vehicle, his gun

Both get arrested, third party. Female let go.

Felon just needed a ride

Felon said he never saw or touched the gun but district attorney say if no plea and won’t serve seven years they will charge for habitual defender.

Felon has had two strokes

Not over this but isn’t a threat to anyone. And has been trying to stay out of trouble.

But his past hasn’t been good and police are always looking for something when they see him.

Honestly he just asked for a ride cause he can’t drive.

A: This is a serious charge--need to hire a criminal defense attorney to represent him and wade through this. Use the Find a Lawyer tab and search for criminal defense attorneys in your area-----some will provide a free initial consultation----I know that my firm does----after you speak to a few, hire the one with whom you are most comfortable.
