Q: Do I need a lawyer for a deposition?
A: Technically, no, but if you don't have one, who is going to raise the legal objections to questions that you are asked that are not proper? Only a very naïve person would think that answering questions at a deposition is easy, it is not, they can ask you the same question a dozen different ways and even the same way. It is always better to have two minds working on the same problems, you need to think about what you are being asked and how to word your questions so you do not step on the land mines. Technically you don't need an attorney, but technically you don't need a surgeon to do an appendectomy, either, but going without is not wise.
