Fresno, CA asked in Probate for California

Q: I filed for guardianship of my 2 granddaughters in probate. How can I admit evidence to the court

my 2 granddaughters 2yrs & 10 months have endured violent behavior from their parents, they have lived with me since their birth with my son and their mom, but in Feb. 2021 they moved out, but brought the girls back to stay with me for 2 1/2 months without their parents. I was very concerned because every time the girls came back from visiting with their mom while my son was at work, at the time 1 1/2 yr old I noticed new bruises and marks when asked I was always told she fell on the Barbie house or she fell dancing with her little cousin. I talked to my son about my concerns and the next day my daughter was upset because the girls mom text me saying i could go buy diapers wipes and formula, after that they filed a false police report of kidnapping. I haven't seen my granddaughters since April 29th. I seen a video of my granddaughter and she looks confused, holding 2 pencils in her hand, nothing's changed. They drink get high fight and the girls have been injured and witnesses

A: I'm sorry to hear about the situation. The court process can be intimidating if you haven't been through it. The Court Investigator should speak with you prior to the court hearing and prepare a report for the court prior to the hearing. Oftentimes, the court depends heavily on the Court Investigator's Report to make orders that are in the best interest of your grand kids. If this is an emergency situation, you should hire an attorney or seek assistance at the courthouse or through your local Bar Association.
