New Orleans, LA asked in Personal Injury for Louisiana

Q: I’m not sure what kind of lawyer I need. I’m suing my university for slander and emotional trauma.

Loyola University sent out an email insinuating that the bartenders at TJ Quill’s are serving college kids roofied drinks. This statement was made before the official police raid and investigation began at TJ Quills. I, along with three other fellow students, are 4 of the 12 bartenders that work at TJ Quill’s. This email has caused so much pain and trauma. People have been bullying me on social media, making sly remarks about me on campus and off. It has gotten to the point where I’d like to withdraw from my school. But before doing so, I want to hold them accountable for sending false information out to the students and faculty of Loyola. The police investigation came back clean, so for them to suggest that other Loyola students are putting roofies in the drinks of college kids is libel and defamation. It has 100% ruined my reputation of being a good student and bartender.

A: Contact a personal injury attorney in your area--anyone you contact ask for his experience with defamation cases specifically.
