Q: What can I do if my property manager wont replace my moldy AC unit?
The AC unit is included in the rental, but not mentioned specifically in the lease. I notified my property manger on Sept. 28th that the window AC unit had mold behind the vents. I asked for it to be replaced and after a little back and forth they said they had to order a new unit and it would be in the week of Oct. 3rd. They said that they would get it replaced as soon as it was delivered. That never happened. I kept calling and emailing asking what was going to be done and they said they would get to it and credited my account $50. On Oct. 22nd they removed the moldy unit and when I asked the maintenance man about the replacement he said he was only told to remove it and didn't know anything about a replacement. It has now been a month without AC and they have said that they will let me know but at this point they have no timeframe on when they will replace it. I paid in advance, so they have my rent money and the lease doesn't end until July 2022. I have had to call almost every day
A: You'll have to work it out with the property manager. AC won't be needed for months. With all the supply chain disruption, AC equipment might be hard to find until spring.
