Asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: I was cited only for speeding doing 100 in a 55 while passing. If I pay online can they still add more charges?

It has been suggested to me that I pay online and take the 6 points because if I went to court they could add a reckless driving charge. This is my first ticket in years so I have no points. I was also told that the DA would probably not work with me. The ticket was issued by a Tennessee State Trooper. I would rather just pay and not risk additional charges provided someone won't look at the ticket after I pay and decide to add more.

A: Who told you that the DA would probably not work with you? And he may not, however he may work with a traffic ticket attorney representing you. My recommendation is that you contact a few traffic ticket or criminal defense attorneys in the jurisdiction where the ticket was issued----discuss your matter and detail and find out what they think are your realistic options and then hire the one with whom you are most comfortable. Good luck.
