Q: Can a Firearm given as a gift to a parent be seized by police because of my felony charges?

I was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm. The firearm was purchased by myself legally 2 years prior to this incident. I gave said firearm to my father as a birthday gift a few months before he passed away. It was stored in a room that i had no access to, when i got home 17 days later a convicted felon inhad received a letter of detention only in the mail. The assistant d.a. a d my lawyer both told me that my mother could legally pick up her firearm from the poilce department, and when she went their they told her it was evidence in an ongoing case.

A: Were you living at parents home?

I assume you had a lawyer on the underlying case.

S/he would be best person to answer as they would have the courts order.

A: Why don't you ask your own lawyer? I'm sure her advice is as good as any you would get here.
