Burkesville, KY asked in Child Support for Kentucky

Q: Should I be getting any child support?

I have a son that is now 19. I raised him all on my own. I have tried to get child support through out the years. Havent gotten any money. Even though my son is over the age of 18 now, am I entitled to receive any of the back child support? Does it no longer matter now that he is over 18?

A: No. If the child is 19, the statute of limitations has already run.

A: Supplemental thought: if you already have an order or judgment for him to pay child support and he has not paid it, then you absolutely can. Ole t on that bc judgments in Kentucky are good for 15 years. However, if you are seeking to establish support now for the first time, then the statute has run and you cannot do it now.
