A: This is something that can easily be handled by an experienced bankruptcy attorney. I have been very successful with all of the cases I have handled for my clients pertaining to EZ Pass Fines and penalties. This is because it is treated as an unsecured debt. You should retain an attorney as soon as possible to avoid having your registration suspended. If your registration is suspended and you are caught driving, then your vehicle will be impounded. Remember a good attorney is rarely cheap and a cheap attorney is rarely ever good.

A: While I agree with counsel, you have to be careful as to what the surcharge is for. If it is for DWI, then penalties maybe judgments which can only be handled with a Chapter 13.
