Brooklyn, NY asked in Traffic Tickets for New Jersey

Q: I received a court summons in the mail for traffic tickets. It seems as if someone provided my information to the cops

I was not the person that was in the car. This person used my information, now I must appear in court. Is there anything I can do about this. The tickets were issued in East Orange, NJ.

In addition, this person was not driving my car. It was a different car with temporary license plate.

A: Definitely get yourself a good lawyer this case is not as easy as you may think to win in fact its easy to lose if the officers says he saw you in the car. In NJ an officer does not have to pull you over to ticket you and in fact many times the registered owner gets the ticket, but you can win this case if it is done correctly and the person you loaned the car will help you. Most of us traffic ticket lawyers offer a free in office consultation. I would suggest that you set one up.
