Q: Daughter ismanager apt complex, stabbed in back by non resident 04/12/2022. Owner of complex said no to security help

On 04/12/2022 my daughter was stabbed in the back by non resident who was told to leave property previously. Daughter is manager at the property. Owners hired security officers due to some illegal things going on there and homeless hanging around and causing problems. This company hired my daughter to hopefully clean up to make it safe for residents. The company said it was to expensive to have full time security because they weren't making money with the budget, so security was changed to just 2 days a week, saturday and sundays only. My daughter is in hospital, doesn't know when she will get out. She has 3 kids who are torn up about this, cant see her, and I as her mother am dealing with this, explaining things as best i can to her kids. This is the first time I am asking about options, or if there is a possible case here. I worry about her future, her kids future's. We have never been thru anything like this before and it's alot to deal with. Thank you

A: Your daughter needs to immediately locate and consult with a workers compensation attorney who can be sure she timely makes a claim against her employer and receive the medical treatment she needs.

Good luck to you and to your daughter.

A: Your daughter could be covered by her employers Work Comp policy. You should ask the employer for the contact and then file a claim. If they don't have a policy it could then possibly give your daughter some options against the employer. You should talk to a local attorney right away.

A: This is terrible and I am so sorry to hear about this. In addition to a WC attorney as suggested by my colleagues, she should consult with a personal injury attorney to see if there is any third party liability which would return much more than the WC system. You have to now watch out for this employer to fire her and evict her from the property. Then you will really need an attorney. Contact a local attorney for your daughter right away, and hope she recovers very soon.
