Knoxville, TN asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: not sure what to expect in court for a speeding ticket and worried that it will cost more money by going to court

I was late for work and going 45 in a 30. I am guilty. I have been told it is better to go to court but after court fees, the fine, and the charge to go to traffic school, I am worried it would be much cheaper to just pay the ticket online. I am a college student working through school and barely have enough money for food. I’m worried I won’t be able to pay for this, at least not all at once.

A: Going to Court is a chance at some type of Diversion or Dismissal. The possible expense is worth the shot. A conviction will add points to your last year's MVR, and you are only allowed 11.
