Sacramento, CA asked in Landlord - Tenant and Civil Rights for California

Q: I have a harassment case against my landlords son, with really incribinating evidence on video from the ring surveilence

My landlord has a lawyer trying to get me to sign papers that are making me vacate my home of 12 years. Her son has his own lawyer for the harassment case they are both trying to get me to settle out of court for 5,000 and to take the TRO i have on her son off. I have no where to move. What should i do?

A: What you should do is retain the services of your own lawyer. Since you already have restraining orders against the landlord's son, you should be in a good position to negotiate better terms for yourself. A lawyer would be your best bet for getting the best out of your situation.

You could try reaching out to the Sacramento County Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service to see if they can refer you to someone who helps people like you with landlord tenant problems. You should be able to find some legal aid programs which can help you.

Don't delay. You obviously need help immediately.
