Q: Good day. Last Saturday I while driving to work I bumped onto a lady’s car and she’s asking for $3000 for hospital bills
She called to tell me after the incident that her neck is swollen which I haven’t seen and she told she’s been to the hospital and her medication bills cost $3000. I haven’t seen any hospital billing and we have not spoken to any legal personnel including the police.

If you go through your insurance company, they will assign a file to her injuries and handle all claims related to it - hospital bills, lost wages, pain and suffering. If you pay her piecemeal, she could come back in a month with additional injuries, and in a year with a $200,000 lawsuit. You do not place your insurance company on notice of the accident, that could jeopardize your defense.
