Chino, CA asked in Family Law for California

Q: I've been subpoenaed for deposition of respondent by my husband's lawyer. I'm representing myself can I object?

I am representing myself in court. I have a temporary restraining order against xxx. His lawyer postponed the hearing to investigate. Now I have been subpoenaed to the oppositions law firm to produce all of my evidence. I feel this is in violation of my rights. I need to properly object this and wait to show my evidence to the judge at the hearing, right? My husband has responded with suing me for custody and spousal support/legal fees! I have been his dependent for 18 years. I have a winning case. I just need help proving he owes me half of his retirement plus 40,000. My daughter is 15 and can attest to the fact he is unfit, she is the one that asked me to pursue the restraining order. I have reached out to every resource available in San Bernadino county and there's no help. I can pay upon judgment because I have plenty of evidence to win my case. My daughter and I have been through enough. We have PTSD and have been abused far too long. Any advice welcomed,ty!MB

A: An experienced and trained attorney will be able to represent you and raise any and all proper objections. My fear is that persons who've not been trained in the law, such as yourself, will not know what, if any, objections to raise. More than can be communicated here would need to be known. Speak with an attorney in your area. [I litigate cases. Anything posted here must not be construed as legal advice, nor as grounds for forming an attorney-client relationship.
