Moreno Valley, CA asked in Civil Litigation for California

Q: The vehicle was my father's he passed away June 28th and my mother signed the vehicle over to me and I finally received

Title and had an appointment to meet with insurance the following day so I just thought why not take it through the car wash before the insurance people to view it. And I could see there was no visible damage to there automatic car wash the brush thing wasn't damaged and the wall piece was all still intact and everything was functioning so what damages should I be responsible for? The ones that they are going to make up because the automatic car wash already had parts peeling inside evident on both sides of the automatic car wash machine none of my paint from my vehicle was even left behind on their automatic car wash machine. I just feel like they tried to bully me then wanted me to give them cash without even knowing if there was damage to their machine they wanted me to pay for possible damages.

A: A California attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. I'm sorry for the loss of your father. It isn't fully clear if the vehicle had been insured at the time of the claimed damages. If it was uninsured, based on the amount of damages claimed, you'd need to decide whether it's something you could negotiate on your own, or involve an attorney in. If the vehicle was insured, but pending carrier's photographing and inspecting, you could reach out to the carrier. Good luck
