Gallatin, TN asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: Can they charge court cost and fees for both driving without a license, & stop sign violation for same citation?

Ok so the court charged my husband $25 fine for no license and court cost and fees were $238 total for that charge then on top of it $2.00 plus court cost and fees again that equaled $216 for a stop sign violation too! which made it a total of $454 is that legal to charge court cost twice for the same citation same court date in Summer County Tennessee They also didn’t give a full summary of the fines they are charging just a paper with the charge of $238 plus violation of $216. Is this normal?

A: Those charges sound normal, Statewide. You might call the Court Clerk and inquire politely about each cost, but i doubt it will do any good. It sounds like your Husband did not go to Court. The disobedience of a traffic signal violation will add some points to his MVR also. He needs to get his TNDL promptly.
