Lexington, KY asked in Family Law for Kentucky

Q: I got served contempt of court papers in the state I moved from after my divorce/custody case. How can I move the case?

I moved from AL, case was there. Ex wife is in prison in FL. I won sole custody of the child. Served papers this morning for contempt of court for the child not talking to mother, the child does not want to. Child is 12. I want to move the case to KY where we have resided now for the last year. How can I do this? And do I need to do it before the pretrail hearing in AL for the contempt?

A: Make a motion to transfer to Ky pursuant to the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction Act since you’ve been in Ky for at least six months.
