A: In California, it is legal for patients to make audio and/or video recordings of their medical procedures, including childbirth, as long as it does not interfere with medical care or violate the privacy rights of other patients and healthcare providers. However, the hospital or healthcare facility may have its own policies regarding recording, which patients may need to comply with in order to receive care. Patients should check with their healthcare providers to understand their specific policies on recording childbirth. It's also worth noting that if a hospital does have a policy against recording, they may ask the patient to sign a form acknowledging this policy.
