Q: Do I have any options? Isn’t the landlord supposed to assist with rent assistance?

I applied for rent relief for a total of eight months. They paid the first three and then I recertified requesting an add’l five, but they only paid an add’l three. When I first applied, we had prop mgmt. But by the time I recertified, prop mgmt quit. When rent relief needed an updated ledger showing the amount of rent I owe (a total of five months), my landlord asked prop mgmt to send it because rent relief still had prop mgmt listed as the landlord. They didn’t include all five months because they weren’t still managing the property. Because rent relief didn’t get proof of all months being past due, they only paid the three. Now my landlord is suing me for the last two. Do I have any options? I thought the landlord couldn’t sue if they didn’t assist in obtaining rent assistance? I have proof it was prop mgmt and not my landlord who submitted the documents… is there anything I can do? I feel like my landlord manipulated it so she could still screw me over.
