A: If a vehicle is registered in the names of two people with the word "or" between their names, this means that either of the two registered owners has the legal authority to transfer ownership of the vehicle or to make decisions about the vehicle. This is different from a registration that includes the word "and" between the names, which typically requires both registered owners to agree on any transfer of ownership or decision regarding the vehicle.

If one of the registered owners dies, the surviving owner will typically have full legal authority over the vehicle. This means that they may continue to use and operate the vehicle, transfer ownership to another person, or make other decisions about the vehicle without the approval of the deceased owner or their estate.

However, it is important to note that the specific rules and procedures for handling the transfer of ownership or other legal matters related to the vehicle may vary depending on the state or country in which the vehicle is registered. It is always a good idea to consult with a local attorney or legal expert to understand the specific laws and regulations that apply in your area.
